Part Time: 3 days per week, negotiable.
Term: minimum 6 months beginning August 2019, with option to extend a further 6 months.
Remuneration: $75,000 per annum plus superannuation of 9.5%. Paid pro-rata.

ABOUT WINEMAKERS OF RUTHERGLEN
The Winemakers of Rutherglen are an inspiring collective of 19 wineries from one of Australia’s most historic and iconic wine regions – Rutherglen.
Situated in North East Victoria, protected by the Great Dividing Range, Rutherglen is blessed with cool nights, warm days and gloriously long, dry autumns. In essence, the ideal viticultural conditions for pioneering varietals that are uniquely Australian in charm and in spirit.

EXPENSES TO BE COVERED BY WINEMAKERS OF RUTHERGLEN
Accommodation and travel as per the Winemakers of Rutherglen Travel Policy.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Board support

  • Help coordinate the Winemakers of Rutherglen board and ensure decisions are made and tasks are completed as required
  • Meet with the chair on a weekly basis
  • Attend 12 monthly board meetings and a minimum of one special general meetings and one annual general meeting over a 12 month period.
  • Prepare reports and research where required for meetings

Member communication and engagement

  • Manage the Executive email address, and ensure relevant messages are passed on to the correct contact within the Winemakers of Rutherglen business.
  • Nurture and maintain relationships with our 19 member wineries. This includes assisting with any questions they might have, helping them find information they require, or connecting them up with relevant resources.

Contractor Liaison

  • Coordinate relationship with our Melbourne based marketing and public relations agency, littleBIG, to ensure the delivery of our integrated marketing strategy. This means assisting with collecting content from member wineries and assisting with the logistics of sending wine to journalists, but the majority of the implementation work is managed by our agency.
  • Work with and coordinate the relationship with Nolan Media and Events, who run our major in region events, as well as our out of town events. You would be expected to assist at these events, but Nolan Media will take a lead role in the management and implementation of the events.

Stakeholder Liaison

  • Send out a weekly email newsletter for members to keep them updated on news, events, resources and any membership requirements they may have
  • Coordinate the sponsorship relationship with the Transport Accident Commission. This includes communicating regularly, reporting on key deliverables with the TAC, and assisting with any event related activations that might be required.
  • Attend meetings and events on behalf of Winemakers of Rutherglen when/if required

Community Liaison

  • Assist the Rutherglen Visitor Information Centre team by providing information and assistance relating to events and news from Winemakers of Rutherglen.

REPORTING/LIAISON

  • You will have the following direct reports:
    • Part time accounts officer who manages invoicing, purchase orders, payroll and financial documents for board meetings.
    • Nolan Media and Events (two contact people) who manage and implement all our events
    • littleBIG (two to three contact people) who manage and implement our marketing strategy, including our social media
  • You will have the following relationships that are important to maintain:
    • Indigo Shire Council
    • Tourism North East
    • Destination Rutherglen
    • Wine Victoria
    • Wine Australia
    • Australian Grape and Wine

Specific requirements or requests from these groups will likely be handled by the Chair of Winemakers of Rutherglen, but maintaining professional relationships and passing on appropriate information will be important in this role.

EXPERIENCE
Must have:

  • Good email etiquette.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Professional phone manner.
  • Experience overseeing stakeholder and business relationships.
  • A demonstrated capacity to problem-solve.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Powerpoint.

Highly regarded but not essential:

  • A capacity to provide reporting and data analysis/insights to inform decision making by the board.
  • Basic budget management skills.
  • Experience managing a Board and/or a team.
