Vintage Cellar Hand (Wine Jobs: Vineyards & Cellars )

We are seeking several full-time, seasonal interns to join our production staff for the 2023 harvest. One of these positions is a lab-specific role with limited cellar work; prior lab experience is a necessity. Please specify if you are interested in the lab position. All other positions consist of general cellar work. Candidates with forklift experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Prior harvest experience is not a requirement, though a genuine interest in learning about wine is. Positions will start in mid-August and end sometime in November, depending on the growing season.

Based on experience, you may be asked to do the following:

  • Vineyard sampling- The first few weeks will entail lots of visiting our estate vineyards for sampling. This is fun and bucolic and very instagramable.
  • Running crush equipment and sorting fruit. We grow, like, really nice grapes. But even so we need to sort out the occasional bad bunch.
  • Forklift operation. Don’t worry, we’ll certify you first.

• Barrel work. 
• Cap management. 

  • Press operations. 
  • Juice/wine transfers. If you like pumps and systems, have we got the pumps and systems for you!
  • Additions and inoculations. Ever made a sourdough starter?
  • Equipment sanitization/cleaning. Great wine comes from clean tanks!

You are:

  • Not a jerk. This is a non-negotiable for us, sorry jerks.
  • Flexible and willing to work varying shifts, overtime, and weekends.
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Able to accurately complete work instructions individually or in a team
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • Able to lift 50 pounds. But like, not constantly. It’s a winery, not a gym.
  • Forklift certified or can be forklift certified by us.

Compensation: $USD19/hr+ depending on experience with plenty of opportunity for overtime which is to be paid at 1.5x base pay rate.
