Rombola Family Farms has a great opportunity for a Vineyard Manager. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful applicant must be self-motivated and familiar with all aspects of vineyard management.

The Vineyard Manager is a key member of the Rombola Family Farms permanent plantings production team. This role will require management and hands on pest and disease control, irrigation management, supervision and training of staff, care and maintenance of vineyard equipment, overseeing harvest operations and canopy management.

Key operational accountabilities include

  • Manage the day to day operations of the vineyard: spraying, pruning, trimming and vineyard maintenance.
  • Direct the allocation of in-house staff and third-party contractors to specific tasks based on skill and reliability.
  • Continues improvement throughout the vineyard, always looking to increase vineyard performance and efficiency.
  • Works closely with the production team, to ensure agreed production practices and systems are delivering the desired result.
  • Work hand in hand with the maintenance manager to ensure vineyard operations have the highest possible equipment availability.
  • Coach, mentor and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
  • Generate, analyse, share and act on the agreed operational performance metrics for the vineyard operation
  • Ensuring that WH&S obligations are implemented and adhered to by team members.
  • Oversee and coordinate the daily irrigation program ensuring target moisture levels are consistently achieved over the entire vineyard.

To be successful in the role you will possess the following

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the agriculture industry.
  • Skilled at crop health, production planning and pest and disease management.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Good with numbers: analysing data, trends and want to have input into the production plan and farm expansion plans.
  • Energetic and a “can do” attitude.
  • A strong understanding of mechanised vineyard equipment.
  • Thrive working in a proactive team (must be a team player)
  • Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets
  • Sound working knowledge of WH&S requirements.
