We are a Sydney based, early stage wine startup with the mission to take the intimidation and confusion out of learning, exploring and most importantly drinking delicious bottles of wine. We are building a wine brand that is simultaneously remarkable yet inclusive, and it’s our mission to provide our customers with access to a world of wine that may just have been a little beyond their comfort zone.
We like to think of ourselves as providing monthly wine adventures, customised to each member's unique tastes, delivered to their door. Who we're looking for?
People who will take a great deal of pride in running a tight ship. And by ship, we mean delicious bottles of wine. Someone that's going to take pride in dealing and negotiating directly with suppliers to make sure we have enough and amazing supply of wine for our #winesquad (our customers) and do it efficiently because you'll have lots going out every day.
You'll need to be able to set-up pricing structures for each customer demographic, source and select wines from all around the world, keep an eye on stock levels and building relationships with suppliers. Finally, you'll need to inspect and try the wines, write notes about them and help us to promote to our target audience.
You need to be organised, detail oriented, or preferably detailed obsessed! For instance, we love it when people address their applications email to: 'Wine Gallery HQ'. Most importantly you'll be someone with grit, who can work hard and fast and handle long hours when needed. Expect to be pushed!
More specifically, these are some of the things you will be doing:
- Sourcing wines from all around the world (You might need to visit wineries directly).
- Ordering and tasting wine samples. Negotiating with suppliers on price, payment structure and promotion.
- Buying wine and communicating on an ongoing basis with wine suppliers and winemakers.
- Staying on top of our current stock quantities and range. Predicting movements based on sales data.
- Keeping up with wine and consumer trends to assist our wine buying and marketing activities.
- Classifying and describing each wine. Writing tasting notes. Filming tasting videos.
- Assisting the marketing team with information and campaigns to promote the wines.
Your wine decisions will directly impact our customers' happiness, and we take that very seriously. So you'll be an extremely valuable member of the team. Lastly, for the right person, there's opportunity to build their own wine buying team as we grow.
