Our client whose wines are internationally lauded, is regarded by many as the forefather of Australian cool climate Shiraz and is recognized as such in its “Exceptional” classification in Langton’s Classification of Australian Wine. A unique opportunity is available for an experienced and high quality focused viticulturist to head up the viticulture team.
Responsibilities will include
- Oversight of total viticulture practices.
- Competent and hands on vineyard management of vineyards working across multiple sites, both company owned and contract growers in the Canberra & Hilltop’s districts.
- Production of grapes for quality fruit outcomes –Keenly refined ability to grow grapes to meet the highest of quality specifications.
- Proficient and willing to undertake tractor operation, pruning, spraying, canopy management etc.
- Environmentally focused with excellent skills in building soil & plant health
- Implementation and modification of organic viticulture principals without being a zealot including experience in transitioning conventional vineyards to organic principal vineyards.
- Detailed reporting, costing and analysis of vineyard performance.
- Fine tuning of vineyard practices for sustainability and quality improvements
- Able to adjust the viticulture processes proactively so climatic variables effects can be minimized.
