About Wine Victoria
Wine Victoria is the peak body representing the interests of the Victorian wine industry. We work closely with growers, winemakers, and regional associations to advocate, lead, and deliver initiatives that secure the long-term sustainability and growth of the sector.
About the Role
As the Victorian Grape & Wine Development Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in enhancing innovation, resilience, and sustainability across Victoria’s wine regions. This is a dynamic role that blends project delivery, industry engagement, and practical support to grape and wine businesses.
You’ll lead the delivery of the Wine Australia Regional Program in Victoria, support wine businesses in becoming certified under the Sustainable Winegrowing Australia (SWA) program, and act as a trusted, on-the-ground advisor — particularly in regions needing extra support.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver Wine Australia’s Regional Program in collaboration with Wine Victoria and key stakeholders
- Support regional advocacy through industry insights and stakeholder alignment
- Establish and manage demonstration sites that trial sustainable viticultural practices
- Provide tailored, practical support to assist wine businesses through SWA certification
- Develop and share content that promotes innovation in sustainability, packaging, NOLO, biosecurity, and climate adaptation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with growers, winemakers, government, and regional associations
- Identify funding and project opportunities to deliver locally led solutions
- Provide regular progress reports and insights to Wine Victoria and stakeholders
- Represent Wine Victoria in state & national advisory and innovation networks
- Support emergency response coordination and information sharing during biosecurity events
About You
You’re a connector and a doer — someone who brings technical insight, regional knowledge, and a collaborative mindset. You know how to engage with industry at all levels and have the initiative to lead projects from concept to delivery.
You’ll Bring:
- Strong experience in viticulture, regional development or agricultural project delivery
- A respected presence or the ability to build strong networks within the grape and wine sector
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects or industry programs successfully
- A practical approach to working with industry, especially in regional and remote areas
- Excellent written communication skills, including reporting
- Confidence in communicating with a range of audiences, from growers to government
- Willingness to travel regularly across Victoria (including overnight stays)
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle (travel and accommodation costs will be covered)
The Offer
This is a flexible two (2) year contract role on a part time basis (3-5 days a week) and is ideally suited for someone who enjoys variety and autonomy, but wants to make a measurable difference to the future of Victorian wine.
You’ll be supported by a small, proactive team and will work closely with stakeholders across the state and nationally.
