We are looking for a person with evidenced experience in farm operations, viticulture/horticulture or agriculture generally, people management and/or supervision skills, excellent mechanical and equipment knowledge, and preparedness to operate tractors and equipment where necessary alongside the vineyard team.
The position involves managing daily vineyard operations of over 50 hectares on prime old-vine vineyards across a number of sites.
The business team already has skilled people with professional viticultural knowledge to support the right applicant.
The vineyards are in the lower Hunter Valley outside Cessnock and are part of a well-established winery in the region.
The work involves prioritizing, scheduling and supervising the daily work of the permanent team members, managing a comprehensive equipment management program, overseeing the Company WHS program in relation to the farm operations, developing a full working knowledge of organic viticulture programs including irrigation, plant nutrition, soil health, farm biodiversity, disease management and fruit quality.
The applicant requires some demonstrated capacity in R&D and enthusiasm for examining new technologies and procedures.
