Whilst the core business is producing outstanding premium wines from Margaret River, our Swan Valley Estate provides visitors with world-class wine tourism, concert and hospitality experiences, and was awarded the prize as Australia's Best Wine Tourism facility at the 2017 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.

Based at Sandalford Estate, Swan Valley this exciting and challenging role reports directly to the CEO.

You will be required to manage a very small team of grounds maintenance staff and external service providers to ensure the Estate buildings, plant and grounds are maintained to the highest standards ensuring our customers' expectations are exceeded across all business units including the tourism and events operations.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Management of the day to day maintenance requests ensuring works are carried out in a timely manner with an emphasis on quality, effectiveness, value for money and safety;
  • Management and planning of preventative maintenance schedules;
  • Management and ensuring all public building health statutory requirements are compliant;
  • Maintaining accurate financial and resources budgets for the Estate maintenance requirements;
  • Management and planning of minor capital projects and refurbishments;
  • Maintaining and developing occupational health sand safety policies for staff, customers and contractors.
  • Liaising with various business managers to ensure readiness and seamless delivery of functions and special events; and
  • Ensuring whatever time of the year the Estate "sparkles" and operates without delay, disruption and or unnecessary inconvenience to customers and staff.

To be successful of this Role you must possess the following:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of general building maintenance techniques across all trades;
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems and some horticultural experience;
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with co-workers, suppliers and service providers;
  • An absolute can do attitude with a hands on approach when required;
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and delivery focus;
  • Ability to task prioritise and well as time and project management skills;
  • Sound computer skills; and
  • Ability to use initiative, problem solve, source information and work unsupervised.

The Candidate

The successful applicant is expected to have at least five (5) years experience in a similar position, outstanding communication and selling skills, a long term vision and commitment to the role, is immaculately presented, have a 'can do' attitude, along with a will to achieve a 'result'. Proven experience in a demanding Estate and Buildings Facilities management environment would be imperative, as well as definite ability to make responsible and sometimes complex decisions under pressure.

You will be a natural leader, able to take full 'ownership' of the relevant financial budgets and targets, a great communicator, have a passion for Estate Management, able to multi-task, deliver on time, and do what you say you will.
