The Osborne Park Hotel is a family run and family friendly venue with a large Bistro, function room, drive through Bottlemart, Public Bar, full service TAB and a. vast Harry Brown Beer Wine and Spirits store.
This is an excellent opportunity for a current Assistant Manager, Manager within the alcohol retail industry, or a wine rep with sound wine knowledge to join a strong fully independent group. Previous experience in the liquor industry is essential.
The role offers the successful applicant a great breadth of experience given the multi faceted nature of the business. The position reports to the Harry Brown Store Manager and the Venue Manager.
The candidate will perform a hands-on role and be one of two Assistant Retail Managers who will work closely with the Manager of the Harry Brown store to:
- Provide liquor store management in the absence of the Harry Brown Manager;
- Provide exemplary customer service;
- Liaise with supplier representatives;
- Motivate, direct and supervise staff in retail liquor sales and stock handling;
- Transfer stock as required;
- Handle order enquiries in the absence of the Harry Brown Manager;
- Display a proficiency in the H&L point of sale system, specifically stock control and till programming;
- Hand sell wine, craft beers and high-end spirits.
The successful applicant will
- be fit, as there is lifting involved;
- hold a forklift licence and a drivers' licence;
- possess an RSA certificate and Approved Manager’s card;
- possess superior customer service skills with a bubbly personality;
- display superior Wine, Craft Beer, Premium Spirits knowledge;
- be a brilliant hand-seller of wine;
- be flexible with respect to work hours - must be available to work night and weekend shifts regularly, for 35 to 40 hours per week;
- perform the role in a professional and efficient manner.
- lead by example, work as part of the team, pitching in to assist in any department as required;
- have awareness of the responsibilities of a venue as required under the Liquor Control Act..
- be highly organised and efficient;
- have confidence to address any customer related issues in a respectful manner.
The Harry Brown store’s primary role is the retail offering, however, it is also the main warehouse for all other departments of the Osborne Park Hotel. As such, experience in stock control, pricing, new stock intro, familiarisation with H&L POS system programming would be an advantage.
We are currently looking for an individual to join our great team who is bright, enthusiastic, honest, responsible and who has a customer focus. The role will be paid on a casual basis and probationary for 3 months.
