About Fleet
Fleet is a progressive, family-owned viticultural enterprise based in South Gippsland. With a strong reputation for producing premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, we farm 8 hectares across two sites, ranging in age from 5 to 35 years with a deep commitment to regenerative and sustainable farming with new blocks continuing to be established.
The Role
We’re seeking an experienced and passionate Vigneron to lead the technical and operational management of our vineyards. This hands-on role will oversee all aspects of vineyard performance, with a focus on quality, sustainability, and innovation.
In addition to a viticultural base, the role will comprise working in our cellar to complete harvest, fermentation and élevage. The role gives opportunity for full engagement across the winemaking cycle.
Involvement in planning and establishing habitat rejuvenation and care for country programs across Fleets own sites, building balanced ecological habitats with a focus on IPM strategies and viticulture appropriate local native planting programs.
You will work closely with Lisa and Justin, contributing to long-term strategic decisions while also managing day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities
• Design and implement seasonal and long-term viticulture plans
• Lead sustainable and regenerative farming practices in line with certification goals
• Oversee vineyard operations, crop management, and quality control
• Collaborate with the winemaker on vineyard development, fruit sampling, and allocation
• Provide technical guidance and training to vineyard staff
• Coordinate all aspects of vintage, including sampling, scheduling, and logistics
• Prepare and manage vineyard budgets and forecasts
• Maintain accurate records and operational reports
• Evaluate vineyard performance and mitigate operational risks
• Research and introduce new technologies as part of our equipment upgrade program
• Uphold OH&S standards and foster a safe workplace
• Represent Fleet at industry, trade, and sustainability events
• Support additional family business activities as required
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
• Tertiary Education in Viticulture, Agricultural Science, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in viticulture or vineyard management
• Strong financial and budgeting skills
• Valid driver’s licence
• Competent in tractor and vineyard machinery operation
Desirable
• ChemCert accreditation (or willingness to obtain)
• Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience in habitat rejuvenation and re-veg programs
