An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated wine professional to join our team as Senior Winemaker. Teusner Wines has established a reputation as a premium producer of quality Barossa Valley wines with a passion for old vines and crafting wines of character. Established in 2001, Teusner wines has consistently maintained a 5-Star Halliday rating and is recognized amongst The Top Wineries in Australia by The Real Review.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely with Cellar Management, this is a hands-on role in a dynamic environment assisting in all aspects of the production process with focused administrative and analytical duties. Efficiency, attention to detail, problem solving, and strong organizational and communication skills are a must, as well as a passion for wine and producing outcomes of the highest quality.
The successful applicant will hold a tertiary degree in Oenology, have a strong understanding of the winemaking process and principals of quality control, be willing to work as a part of a small team and contribute as required over the vintage period. Australian Citizenship/Permanent Residency is required, whilst a strong working knowledge of Vintrace would be considered highly advantageous.
Job Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Oenology.
- Working knowledge of Vintrace.
- Strong competency in IT, logistics and administration.
- Ability to use initiative and be solution focused in a fast-paced environment.
- Laboratory skills and ability to interpret analytical data.
- Team oriented with Human Resource management skills.
- Be able to effectively direct and manage cellar staff, contract clients, suppliers, and key stakeholders to ensure the highest level of standards are maintained in line with company objectives.
- Physically fit and competent in cellar operations including operation of plant and equipment and contributing to their maintenance.
- Willingness to work extended hours during the Vintage Period and contribute where required to promotional and sales events.
- Assist in the maintenance, application and continual improvement of the company WHS program.
- Current forklift license and other high risk work permits are considered advantageous.
For the successful applicant, this full-time role provides a unique opportunity to work closely with the Teusner portfolio as well as several high-profile contract clients. Remuneration will be negotiated commensurate to experience.
