Grape Fusion is seeking a hands-on working Vineyard Manager to manage all aspects of vineyard operations at our Howard Vineyard site.
Howard Vineyard and associated Schoenthal Vineyard were established in 1997 and is based in the premium wine growing region, the Adelaide Hills. We currently have 48ha productive as well as opportunity for a replanting program.
We are looking for someone who has considerable experience in the filed of of cool climate viticulture. The successful applicant will need to to self motivated with the ability to perform all aspects of viticulture operations and assist with aspects of the wine making process.
First hand experience in vineyard maintenance and vine establishment is a essential criteria for this position.
Reporting to the Owner & General Manager.
PRIMARY ROLE: Increase/improve fruit and wine quality.
• Manage all operations of the vineyard, including soil improvements, irrigation, trellis, vine manipulation, disease, pest and weed control.
• Optimise grape quality and yields.
• General growing activities including harvesting and pruning.
• Vine planting program.
• Pruning and training program.
• Harvesting program.
• Monitoring and record keeping of vineyards.
• Vine health and productivity on all vineyards.
• Irrigation regime and water efficiency.
Cultivation, thinning, pruning, tying, suckering, canopy management, planting and replanting, irrigating and harvesting.
Irrigation, monitoring and making recommendations related to vineyard and fruit quality
Ability to work with contractors to develop and improve vineyard results.
Erosion control, trellis Installation, irrigation installation, frost protection, vineyard installation, fence installation and R&M.
Comply with WHS ensuring correct PPE used at all times
Good operator on various farm equipment and harvester.
Understand and develop our WHS Policy and Procedures.
Evaluate vineyard requirements and make recommendations that provide effective, timely and economic solutions.
The winning applicant will have the opportunity to take our vineyard to the highest level. The roll includes the opportunity for significant vine planting and to work with a strong, growing Adelaide Hills wine company.
This person will be taking on a huge responsibility to assist us in returning parts of our vineyard back in to production after the Cuddlee Creek bushfires 2019 as well as scheduled planting 2 ha of Shiraz at Mt Barker. A great chance to be part of the next generation of our business.
