About the Role

We're looking for a Vineyard Assistant/Hand to join the team in our stunning vineyard in Glen Forbes of South Gippsland. As part of the team, you'll receive training to develop your skills and have a hands-on approach in the daily development and upkeep of our vineyard. You'll be involved in all facets of the vineyard, including machinery operations, manual labour and repairs and maintenance.

Reporting to the Vineyard Manager, you will be required to carry out a broad range of day-to-day viticultural activities which include but are not limited to the following:

  • Vineyard machinery operations and maintenance
  • Tractor operations such as vine spraying, sweeping, mowing, mulching and cultivating
  • Management, service and maintenance of the irrigation system
  • Canopy management, pruning and vine training
  • Harvest operations - hand harvesting
  • Assisting in the preparation and planting of new vines
  • Assisting as required in the winery

Requirements

To be the successful applicant for this role, the right person must be reliable and enjoy working outdoors, be physically fit and able to undertake manual labour, and can work alongside casual vineyard staff for any and all vineyard operations

You will also have:

  • Permanent Australian Work Rights (Citizen or Permanent Resident)
  • Experience in, or a genuine enthusiasm for wine and viticulture
  • Previous experience driving a tractor is desirable.
  • Motivation, flexibility and an eagerness to learn
  • Great communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to work additional hours subject to seasonal requirements
  • A strong understanding of work health and safety procedures
  • Current valid Australian driver's licence is essential

Forklift licence, chemical handling certificate or first aid certificate is advantageous

Previous viticultural or horticultural experience would also be an advantage. 

A remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
