Australian Vintage Limited (AVL) is a leading domestic, fully integrated wine business with a footprint in over 40 countries globally. We pride ourselves on producing internationally awarded quality wines across a diverse portfolio of brands including McGuigan, Tempus Two and Nepenthe.

Located in Mildura, Victoria, an exciting opportunity exists for a highly skilled packaging and logistics professional to join our high performing team. This position will play a pivotal role in the company’s Domestic and Export growth plans, whilst driving low cost, best service and quality outcomes to our customers and consumers around the world.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Drive the long-term planning process as well as the annual operating plan for packaging and logistics.
• Lead the procurement process and drive cost savings for all purchases of dry goods, including bottles, capsules, labels and cartons.
• Ensure AVL maintains a best in class scorecard for DIFOT across all key customers. Manage the 3PL freight relationship and drive efficiency.
• Ensure working capital targets are met, maintained or reduced.
• Drive an activity cost based culture and drive continual improvement.
• Lead the relative Enterprise Agreements.
• Manage 3rd Party Bottling requirements and negotiate contracts as necessary.
• Drive bottling line efficiency through best practice systems and processes as well as fulfilling capacity via 3rd party contract packaging opportunities.
• Drive a high performing team culture via appropriate learning and development, performance management.
• In conjunction with the WHS team, create, drive and lead the WHS agenda across packaging and logistics, lead as the example.

Essential experience:

To be successful in this position you will be an action-orientated, results driven, commercially focused and highly motivating leader with a passion for driving change and employee engagement. The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in a similar role within a related industry and will bring with them;  

• A minimum of 10 years in supply chain of FMCG or Liquor at a senior level.
• Demonstrated experience in driving continual cost reduction via tenders, contract negotiations and activity based costing.
• Strong influencing and interpersonal skills, ability to lead an engage a large and diverse team.
• Strategic thinker, highly commercial and analytical.
• Ability to act with a high level of autonomy.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications. (preferred, not essential)
