About the role: 

This is a permanent full time role - Not a Vintage position.  

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and mechanically minded Cellar Hand  Bulk Dispatch Operator to join our Merbein Packaging Winery Cellar team.

The position is currently vacant and available for an ASAP start. 

Applicants must be available for rotating Day - Night -  Afternoon shift work, when required. 

Reporting to the Cellar Manager, your duties and responsibilities will include: 

General winery cellar operations, include:

  • Maintain an acceptable housekeeping level in the cellar areas (i.e. clean floors and tanks, and keep walkways around entry and exit points unobstructed).
  • Complete cellar notes and record the required data for product being produced as per site standard operating procedure.
  • Transfer operations
  • Filtration operations
  • Load and unload tankers
  • Collecting samples from wine tanks
  • Additions and gas adjustments to tanks
  • Preparation of wines to meet production requirements
  • Maintenance and monitoring of all wine on site to maintain wine quality

Bulk Dispatch operating duties, include:

  • Receive and distribute bulk wine in accordance with site standard operating procedures and WHS policies.
  • Prepare, monitor, and maintain pre-bottling filtration filler and lines in accordance with site Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and WHS policies.
  • Record tank dips and tank dissolved oxygen (DO’s) prior to and at the end of each shift.
  • Record the required data for product being produced as per site standard operating procedure.
  • Make additions and perform tank transfers as directed by site winemaker.
  • Maintain an acceptable housekeeping level in the bulk dispatch area (i.e. clean floors and tanks, and keep walkways around entry and exit points unobstructed).
  • Monitor any bird or fauna activity in the bulk dispatch area and report it to Cellar Manager. 

We are looking for:

  • Excellent Communication Skills: This role requires a high degree of stakeholder management and presenting both internally and externally.  The successful candidate is committed to working as a team member with a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy and work productivity.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: The successful candidate is technically minded with high level of mechanical reasoning and comprehension.
  • Forklift License and Drivers License are essential
