Graceburn Wine Room (Mac Forbes Wines) is in search of an experienced hospitality gun to run their cellar door and bistro in Healesville, Yarra Valley. A fun and dynamic position that allows you to both gain knowledge and experience with one of the Australia’s best producers.

Show off your wine knowledge and help spread the Mac Forbes story via the cellar door and help create a list of “Friends Wines” to compare and contrast wines from all over the world.

You should be ambitious and motivated, have a passion for wine and the ability to work autonomously. You are required to multitask and ideally have some managerial experience. We want to create an environment for people where wine is fun and can be slowly enjoyed, rather than just tasted.

The Venue Manager will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the cellar door and wine room. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Actively promote the sale of all Mac Forbes Wine products and deliver prompt and courteous customer service
  • Staffing, recruitment and rostering
  • Stock control, P & L reporting and monthly inventories
  • Maintain good knowledge of Mac Forbes Wine products, future release dates and friends list
  • Proactively promote, suggest and manage release and other social events
  • Engage with other departments in regards to marketing and events
  • Regularly and appropriately promote the bar via social media platforms
  • Comply with all OH&S and liquor licensing policies and procedures

Required skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate to guests with varying wine knowledge
  • Ability to train staff members and delegate duties
  • WSET Level 2 certification or equivalent
  • Awareness of Yarra Valley wine
  • Good time management skills and ability to work independently

The cellar door is open Thursday to Monday, bistro Friday and Saturday nights, Sunday lunch. You’ll be in charge of an awesome small team in an incredible part of the world. 

Renumeration based on experience.
