Kirk’s is a unique wine bar with a modern European menu and exciting cheese selections. The wine offering is a key part to Kirk’s business with a large selection of wines by the glass and bottle focusing on boutique local producers, balanced with an eclectic mix of European wines.
We are looking for a dynamic, experienced Sommelier to lead the Wine program at Kirk's Wine Bar.
This is an exciting career opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Wine Professional.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the wine offering at one of Melbourne’s leading wine destinations
- High Level Customer interaction of selling and serving to guests in the venue
- Forecasting and ordering wine for busy events venue upstairs; The French Saloon
- Maintain inventory, invoicing and other administration requirements
- Supervise and train staff on wine and spirits
- Work with the wider business group on wine purchasing and Allocations to wine lists
This is a hands-on role with a focus on wine service delivery, upkeep and maintenance of the wine offering. It is a full time salary position with a flexible working roster between Tuesday to Saturday.

EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 2 years experience in a sommelier or wine buying role
- WSET or CMS Qualifications are highly desirable
- A keen interest in both food and wine with a desire to constantly update this knowledge
- A confident ability to communicate and network with guests, fellow staff and wine suppliers
- Experience with working with a POS and Inventory system and also MS Office Suite
- Proficient Inbox management experience with Outlook and Gmail
- Highly organised, an eye for detail and enjoy doing things properly
- To be punctual, diligent and responsible in all areas of work conduct
- Excellent English language skills
- Current Victorian RSA certificate
- To ensure WH&S standards and practices are maintained
