We want the food, the service and the wine offering to be at the top of what’s on offer in Melbourne – just in a relaxed environment. As Assistant Wine Buyer, you’ll play a key role in achieving this, and we’re well on the way.
This is not a hands-off position - it’s a dynamic and varied one. You’ll assist in sourcing new wine and beer for the list, control the stock, train the team and work daily in the Public Bar and Bistro, sharing your excitement with the locals.
You might be a waiter, bartender or wine leader looking to grow into a wine role, or an experienced sommelier working towards a list of your own.

As Assistant Wine Buyer, you will:

We’re committed to real career progression. Working day-to-day with Venue Manager Peter Baker and mentored by Beverage Director Leanne Altmann, this role will immerse you in all aspects of shaping a successful wine program.
The Builders Arms Hotel is a landmark public house on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy. A meeting place of significance since 1853, the custodians of the pub today are Andrew McConnell and Anthony Hammond. The Builders Arms Hotel is a member of a family of venues that include Cutler & Co., Marion, Cumulus Inc., Cumulus Up., Supernormal, Supernormal Canteen and Meatsmith Heritage Butcher.
