An exciting opportunity exists to join McLaren Vale’s oldest family owned winery, Kay Brothers, established in 1890. We are looking for a motivated and experienced Cellar Door sales professional looking to extend their wine knowledge and contribute to the ongoing development and success of our McLaren Vale cellar door.
Reporting to the Cellar Door Manager, the Cellar Door Sales Assistant will be responsible for maximising sales revenue and profitability by fully engaging and educating the consumer in all aspects of Kay Brothers wines and unique history, as well as looking for opportunities to increase our direct to consumer sales by highlighting the benefits of our members club. Other duties will include opening and preparing the cellar door in the morning, order processing and packing and closing cellar door at the end of the day.
You must be a self-reliant, calm team player who is well spoken and confident in hosting structured group tastings as well as other cellar door experiences, tours and on occasion, special events. You will bring both your enthusiasm for customer service and a friendly, positive attitude with a minimum of 24 months experience of success in a Cellar Door and/or supervisory/customer facing wine related retail experience.
You will have a passion for quality wine, in depth knowledge of the wine making process and wine varietals along with an excellent ability to 'story tell' and communicate this information to customers. An existing knowledge of the McLaren Vale region and its unique position as a world class wine destination will be highly regarded.
A current RSA and Drivers licence are essential. Forklift license and First Aid certificate would be beneficial, but training will be available for these skills for the right candidate. Competence with Microsoft Office as well as being comfortable learning new programs and applications will be required with existing knowledge of H&L Exceed POS systems and/or Australia Post EParcel highly desirable.
The successful candidate must be available to work to a roster initially consisting mainly of weekends and public holidays, with potential for additional mid-week hours. The role will commence on a casual basis with a view to moving a permanent part-time position for the right candidate.
