Bago Maze and Wine is an Agri-tourism operation located in the Port Macquarie Hinterland on the NSW North Coast. Originally established as a standard cellar door in 1996 offering wine tastings and sales our customer base shifted in 2012 when we opened our hedge maze.  We are now one of the most visited attractions in the region. We are open 7 days 9am to 5pm. While we still do wine tastings and sales, our focus has shifted to maze visitors and we now also have a small café and function space and plans to grow our tourism offerings. We pride ourselves in being a family friendly winery that offers a relaxed and unpretentious approach to wine.

We are looking for a full-time versatile Cellar Door Manager to work in and manage our customer service operations. This is a hands-on customer focused role requiring you to interact with a varying range of local and international visitors. You will be required to be available weekends, public holidays and school holidays. Rostered weekends off can be negotiated. Salary offered will be above Wine Industry Award and account for weekend rates. 

Wine knowledge is not essential as training will be provided.

The successful candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Confident, friendly, reliable and approachable.
  • Have experience working in a customer service role and possess a customer first approach. 
  • Be a team player but also be able to work autonomously.
  • Good communication skills. Have the ability and confidence to present to large groups.
  • Ability to organise. Staff, supplies and events.
  • Experience managing staff and leading a team.
  • Efficient computer skills. Email, POS
  • Current RSA. 

To address our future growth plans it would be desirable for the candidate to also possess:

- Event management experience.

- Ability to set up and manage wine club.

- Ability to set up and manage commissionable inbound tour packages targeting international travellers. 

- Social Media Management knowledge. Create and schedule social posts, respond to reviews. 

 

Job Description

Cellar Door Manager

Reports to: Operations Manager, Brand Manager

General Cellar Door Duties that Manager is required to undertake includes, but not limited to:

-Communicate and interact with customers at Cellar Door Bar. Conduct Wine-tastings and wine sales.

-Serve customers at Coffee Bar. Make coffees, milkshakes, prepare and serve cakes/scones.

-Conduct group wine tastings including setup, presentation and clean-up

-Answer phone enquiries

-Clear and clean tables. Wash up dishes and glasses.

-Stock shelves with products.

-General cleaning of cellar door and facilities in accordance with cleaning procedure/schedule.

 

Cellar Door Manager Specific Duties

Additional duties Manager is required to undertake includes, but not limited to:


- Order consumables and supplies for cellar door, coffee bar and office and maintain appropriate stock levels (pick up supplies when appropriate/required)

- Monitor the businesses primary email and social media. Respond to enquiries and forward emails to management when required.

- Monitor websites online wine orders. Package and dispatch orders in accordance with procedures.

- Manage Staff Roster for cellar door. (Online system).

- Respond to group and function enquiries and take reservations.

- Manage retail product displays in Cellar Door and create seasonal promotions e.g. Hampers

- Monitor sales volumes.

- Set and direct tasks for Cellar Door staff.

- Monitor and ensure all procedures are completed. (e.g. Start up, cleaning, shutdown procedures). 

- Balance tills at days end.

- Manage POS system.

- Induct and train new cellar door staff.

Potential future growth duties

- Develop, organise and run events in line with our business values.

- Set up and manage a wine club.

- Set up and manage commissionable inbound tour packages targeting international travellers. 

- Social Media Management. Create and schedule social posts, respond to reviews. 

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Responsible Service of Alcohol
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
