Job Description
Reporting direct to the Chief Winemaker, this position involves a range of activities including: monitoring the maturity of grapes to ensure quality and determine the correct time for harvest; monitor the crushing and pressing of grapes, settling of juice and fermentation of grape material and filtration of wine; liaise with and support cellar staff; testing the quality of wine by tasting; assist in the preparation of blending and in house tastings; monitoring the storage and maturation of wine; preparing plans for bottling of wine upon maturation; making sure quality is maintained when wine is bottled.
Desired Skills and Experience
Applicants should be physically fit, flexible, available to work extended hours including shift work, weekends and public holidays and have own reliable transport. Completion of tertiary qualifications in Wine Science or equivalent and practical winemaking experience for two vintages or more is essential.
