New South Wales is the first state of wine with over 200 years of  wine history, and we are looking for a industry liaison officer to coordinate a new Cluster to assist the NSW wine industry in reaching its targets for sustainable profitability and productivity.

THE ROLE

The Wine Industry Productivity and Profitability (WIPP) Cluster requires a liaison officer for a three-year term. They will deliver the WIPP Cluster objectives and outcomes, and ideally be based in the Riverina region. The WIPP Cluster is co-funded by industry and government bodies including the NSW Wine Industry Association (NSWWIA), Riverina Winegrape Growers Association, FIAL and Wine Australia.

This is a hands-on role that is responsible for leading the day-to-day management and collaboration between Cluster members. This includes grape growers and winemakers members, regional, state and national industry and research organisations, who collectively will work with producers to improve their productivity and profitability, thereby sustainably growing the NSW wine sector.

KEY OBJECTIVES

  • Build a cohesive, cooperative and collaborative Cluster that delivers impactful outcomes for its businesses, the region and the wine industry.
  • Act as the conduit between researchers and businesses, and facilitate the development of solutions that increase productivity and profitability for grape growers.
  • Work with Cluster stakeholders and partners by sharing knowledge, and creating connections that lead to strong, professional and long-standing relationships.
  • Identify knowledge, capability and capacity gaps in the Cluster and the challenges to adoption.
  • Identify growth or revenue raising opportunities and assist in developing programs such as workshops, events, training, forums, tradeshows and exhibitions to realise these
  • Manage the Cluster’s brokering functions, information, knowledge and CRM systems
  • Monitor, evaluate and prepare reports on outcomes in a timely and efficient manner

In this position, the incumbent will work independently and closely with the advisory board to implement the Clusters priorities and its projects plans that deliver real benefits for producers.

The position reports directly to the NSWWIA and is accountable to the WIPP Cluster advisory board, with a generous renumeration package based on qualifications and experience.

  • Experience in brokering relationships and/or practice change in business, sales, food & beverage, agribusiness or education and training sectors
  • Proven ability to bridge gaps between research and commercial entities
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically with exceptional attention to detail
  • Creative problem solver that is action orientated and driven to deliver results
  • Excellent communication skills encompassing verbal, written and presentation
  • Strong interpersonal skills, builds relationships and teams easily
  • Demonstrated track record of exceptional organisational skills - gets things done and is a natural arranger that manages external contractors, suppliers and resources effectively
  • Proven ability in reporting of financial and non-financial objectives and measures

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE (may have one or more of the following) 

  • Qualifications in business administration, project management, finance or communications would be highly desirable
  • Qualifications and/or equivalent experience in wine, food, beverage or agribusiness
  • Knowledge brokering
  • Cluster management
  • Training and development
  • Extension and facilitation 
  • Research and development

  • Current Australian driver's licence required (successful applicant will need to supply their own vehicle to undertake work duties)
  • Located or ready access to Griffith NSW (Riverina region)

  • Flexible working arrangements can be offered, subject to the successful candidate’s availability
  • Interstate and regional travel required
