Sales & Marketing Manager (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

This position will be accountable for a very broad range of marketing, brand management and sales duties within our dynamic, growing, family-owned and operated wine business. The ideal candidate will have experience with consumer insights, on and off premise sales strategies, local and international product development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies for SLW, including the creation of packaging, POS campaigns, promotions, national programs, advertising, events, and public relations.

  • Develop and oversee the annual sales plan, tracking progress to ensure all aspects of the plan deliver on-time and on-budget results.

  • Communicate brand strategies, product information and allocations to internal staff, wholesalers, and external partners to improve brand and sales performance.

  • Grow distribution/sell-through at all levels and channels.

  • Inventory management and data entry, including monthly reconciliation and analysis of stock movement

  • Perform as a passionate brand ambassador for the assigned portfolio and SLW at wholesale, trade and consumer tasting events as well as host wine media and buyers at the winery.

  • Report to owners on a monthly basis

  • Work occasionally in the tasting room, depending on the season

  • Update website with latest marketing initiatives and promotions

  • Travel interstate for consumer and trade tasting events, marketing events as required

  • Effectively tell our story and sell wine, with the ability to “up-sell”

  • Must be able to work at least partial weekends

Skills and Experience


  • Almost OCD attention to detail.

  • At least five years experience in sales or marketing in the wine industry or equivalent experience.

  • Excellent creative processes as well as verbal and written communication skills.

  • Driven to deliver; proactive, determined, high initiative, strong work ethic; resourceful and can work independently.

  • Proven sales record with a strong desire for continuous improvement. 

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously; flexibility with ever-changing priorities and deadlines and ability to solve problems in a creative manner.

  • Proven experience creating content for social media and print advertising

  • Understanding and experience in initiating direct-to-consumer marketing campaigns

  • Systems savvy, with well-developed problem-solving skills, as well as tenacity and a focus on detail.

  • Passionate about fine wine and have critical organisation and communication skills, as well as the ability to cope with change as this is a fast-paced role in a dynamic and exciting industry.

  • Drivers license essential

  • Australian residency required

Salary in the range $70K - $90K commensurate with experience.
