Dudley Wines are offering the chance of a lifetime to work in our world-renowned cellar door located on stunning Kangaroo Island. Dudley Wines are the pioneer winery on Kangaroo Island and have been producing wines since 1997. 

Located 12 km east of Penneshaw, the Dudley Wines Cellar Door is family run and owned and is one of the Island's most popular tourist destinations, having won several awards for excellence. The candidate that we are seeking will reflect this pursuit.

Dudley Wines are currently looking for a professional and energetic Cellar Door Manager to assist the family and join our existing small, but passionate team.  The position is full time and is predominantly day work.  As functions build there may be occasional night work.  The successful applicant will be available to work weekends and public holidays, especially during peak periods. 

As a result of recent growth, Dudley Wines have several key projects in the planning stage – with this in mind, it is anticipated, there will be further opportunities for the successful candidate.

Dudley Wines will assist where possible in accommodating the successful applicant if they are currently living on the mainland and a monthly ferry travel allowance may also be negotiated.

 

Tasks:

Managing daily operations and presentation of the Dudley Cellar Door, which includes a wine tasting bar, small restaurant/café and event space on Kangaroo Island

Supervising, training, developing and rostering staff (up to 12 casual and full time staff in peak periods)

Motivate staff and assist with the development of sales initiatives to increase sales (cellar door and online), wine club membership and visitor numbers

Assist with the management of sponsorship and promotional events (eg KI Cup Racing Carnival)

Manage internal events (eg monthly music Sunday Vibes, Cruise ship/group wine tastings, weddings and events)

Continue to build the Dudley Wines brand and unique experiences on offer at the Cellar Door

General administration duties, including; email correspondence and bookings

Assist with digital media marketing

Liaise closely with family members/ company directors

 

Essential Criteria:

- Willing to base yourself on Kangaroo Island and embrace the island community and lifestyle

- Ability to work a five day week which includes weekends and Public Holidays

- Staff management and customer service experience 

- Sales driven and able to consistently motivate the Cellar Door sales team

- High level presentation and communication skills

- Knowledgeable and passionate about wine and food

- Possession of accredited Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate

- High level of computer skills 

 

Desirable Criteria:

Experience in wine / tourism industry

Staff management and customer service qualifications

Social Media experience

Relevant studies/experience in marketing and/or event management
