During the mid-1980s, a team of Chandon’s wine whisperers struck gold at Green Point, an old dairy farm in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, 50 minutes from Melbourne. The cool climate and great soil combined to make a picture-perfect home for Domaine Chandon. Since 1986, this is where Australia’s leading Méthode Traditionnelle producer has been confidently crafting sparkling and still wines that are stamped with the distinct style that is Chandon.
Chandon is part of the LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton group, a family of over 70 Houses including Dom Perignon, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Sephora, TAG Heuer, who create products that convey savoir-faire and preserved heritage while remaining firmly anchored in modernity.
We’re looking for fit, motivated, efficient and attentive people to join the Cellar team at Domaine Chandon. As a Cellar Hand, you will be involved in the hands-on operation of our winery. You will follow operating processes to complete tasks such as racking, barrel work, filtration and hygiene in order to prepare & deliver our Method Traditionnelle wine. You will work in a premium, modern and friendly work environment that provides good training, skills development and exceptional commitment to Health, Safety & Wellbeing principles.
In this position, you will be expected to:
- Make a commitment to consistently demonstrate safe and high-quality work practices and habits in adherence to best practices standards
- Follow standard operating procedures to undertake standard cellar tasks (Transfers, filtrations, routine additions, barrel work and general cellar hygiene)
- Perform seasonal specific tasks during our Vintage season (supervision of casuals, crushing, pressing and red fermentation)
- Ensure all wines and dose are prepared precise to specification and delivery deadlines
- Maintain work areas to a high standard cleanliness, hygiene and organisation
In order to be successful in this position, you will have:
- Permanent Australian Work Rights (Citizen or PR)
- Previous experience working in a Cellar, including Vintage (essential)
- Attention to detail and an eye for quality
- Physical fitness and stamina
- A positive, proactive and confident approach under pressure
- Good communication skills & teamwork skills
- Mechanical aptitude and a strong commitment to Health, Safety & Wellbeing
- A valid Australian Driver’s and forklift License
