We are seeking a Vineyard Manager to join our team at our Marengo Vineyard in the Coal River, Tasmania, to play a pivotal role in the growth of our sustainable wines under our Small Wonder brand, on a permanent, full time basis.

About the Role
You will be responsible for a in convertion organic vineyard located in the Coal River region (Marengo) which has twenty-four hectares of vines and work closely with our other vineyard in the Tamar Valley (Small Wonder), which is twenty-three hectares. Both vineyards are managed to ensure production of premium fruit from a selection of clones and a balance of high performance cool-climate varieties (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Riesling). The Coal River site will undergo organic conversion to obtain ACO certification. The Tamar vineyard is managed organically and certified by ACO. The fruit is processed at our newly built winery at Small Wonder.
As Vineyard Manager, your role will be to:
- Manage the adherence to Australian Organic standards including audit preparation and reporting requirements.
- Support and build a team with the objective of growing premium organic fruit for our own wine business.
- Coordinate with independent contractors and consultants in respect to maintenance and health of the vines.
- Stay current on industry trends, evaluate and recommend growing trends/techniques and technologies.
- Build a broader farm plan focusing on regenerative soil management, use of animals and expanding diversity of plantings around vineyards.
About You
We are looking for someone who wants to work in the ‘Viti’ space but is looking to achieve a balance between being operationally focused and strategic in approach to be successful in growing premium organic fruit.
- Extensive operational experience in managing vineyards.
- Qualified Viticulturalist (highly beneficial).
- Previous experience in managing organic grape growing production (preferred).
- Good observational and diagnostics skills, knowledge of soils, drainage, nutrient management, insects, weed management, canopy management, and crop harvesting, in an organic system.
- Skilled in writing reports, data collection, and correspondence.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to prioritise and manage workload to meet operational requirements.
