The iconic Sevenhill Cellars winery is looking to appoint a Winemaker to carry on the fine tradition of winemakers and head up the winemaking role at Sevenhill.
Established by the Jesuits in 1851, Sevenhill Cellars is the oldest winery in the Clare Valley and a highly regarded producer of red, white and fortified wines including sacramental wine. There is an emphasis on traditional, premium winemaking, such as through the use of the open slate fermenters and a basket press as well as utilising modern plant, equipment and winemaking practices.
Sevenhill Cellars has been classified as a 5 Star winery and has around 50,000 people visit this unique Clare Valley property every year.
The fruit for Sevenhill is sourced from its own low yielding, premium vineyards with several blocks of old vines including some at 60, 100 and 150 years of age. There is an ample supply of super high quality fruit some of which is currently sold and used in the making of other world award winning wines.
The head role of Winemaker at Sevenhill reports to the General Manager and is part of the Executive Team. This leadership role is responsible for all aspects of winemaking, winery management and the subsequent packaging of wine. It also involves speaking and representing the winery in trade and various public forums used to promote Sevenhill wines from time to time.
The role is ideally suited to a tertiary qualified Winemaker with several years’ experience and a proven track record of making high quality wines.
The successful applicant for this role will be a positive person who is self-motivated, team-orientated, able to plan well, be self-directed and show initiative.
