Winery Operations Manager
(Wine Jobs:
Vineyards & Cellars )
Full Time
Margaret River Vintners
Bunbury & South West,
Western Australia
Margaret River Vintners is currently seeking an experienced and passionate WINERY OPERATIONS MANAGER.
The Company
Margaret River Vintners (MRV) is the largest winemaking facility in the Margaret River region. We form part of the Fogarty Wine Group, producing wines for the renowned Evans and Tate brand, in conjunction with a commercial and premium client base.
In short, we make great wines, and a lot of them.
The Role
The Winery Operations Manager (WOM) is set to be a critical person within our business. We would be happy to hold this position for the right candidate until post-Vintage 2022.
Reporting to the site General Manager, this new role will be an integral part of the on-site management team. Critical-thinking and emotional intelligence will be key, as the position involves leading and managing all operational activities in the winery, including providing mentoring and direction to the maintenance and cellar supervisors.
With safety being of the utmost importance, the WOM will be taking the lead role on site for Occupational Safety and Health, while ensuring cellar compliance to all site management systems and policies (HACCP, Environmental, Sustainability and Quality).
Lastly but not least, we're looking for someone who can build and maintain an enjoyable, harmonious team environment while encompassing the highest quality standards. This means managing staff, but also working with other key stakeholders in the business to achieve exceptional outcomes.
Why join us?
What's not to love about the Margaret River Wine Region? Apart from attractive renumeration, we'd potentially help the right candidate relocate from across anywhere in Australia to make this beautiful location their home.
When here, the WOM would be working with a hard-working but fun-loving team. You'd have supportive management and a client base that produces exceptional wines. We like to have a good laugh, eat good food, but also love the work that we do. From social clubs, to events, to ever-evolving staff activities, we're always looking for ways to make life better for our staff.
What are we looking for?
We're looking for someone who can have a real impact on our business; someone who likes a challenge and doesn't shy away from a bit of hard work.
Experience and requirement-wise, we're after the following:
- At least 5 years' worth of relevant management experience in the wine industry required, i.e. as a Winery Operation Manager or Cellar Master
- Experience with the production of premium wines
- A passion for safe workplace practices (ideally HACCP knowledge)
- Experience leading a large and diverse team, with a strong focus on mental wellbeing
- Exceptional communication skills
We will only be accepting candidates with the right to live and work in Australia.
