In this role, you will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge of wines, wine regions and the winemaking processes. This knowledge will help you lead informative wine tastings for our cellar door guests, whilst building on your passion of wine and supporting our Cellar Door Manager with team & bookings/event control.
Reporting to: Cellar Door Manager
Responsibilities:
- Welcome all guests to the cellar door; offer an engaged and exemplary customer service at all times
- Conduct tailor made wine tastings, whilst demonstrating extensive knowledge of The Gilbert Family Wine Company and the relevant wine regions - ongoing in-house training
- Food service, alcoholic beverages (RSA) + tea and coffee on request
- Assist with kitchen control of basic food preparation/service as required – making sure knowledge of local produce for team is communicated
- Seek out opportunities to up sell - from tastings to dine-in
- Actively promote the Gilbert Family Wines' Collector Wine Club
- Accurately process customer transactions on the POS including cash procedures
- Participate in continuous product and industry related education
- Assist in ongoing staff training – wine tasting experience/knowledge
- Complete light administration work daily where required
- Assist in maintaining an effective stock replenishment and stock control system
- Assist management in the execution of scheduled Cellar Door Events - ongoing conversations relating to Gilbert standard
- Ensuring daily bookings and table seating is controlled for priority from our online platform - assist in daily requests or enquiries for The Cellar by Gilbert
- Ensuring WHS protocols on site at all times and to the highest standard
- Assist weekly with Local Stockist' orders, deliveries and general communication - including our Online Sales platform orders
- As Supervisor, you will at times, be required to assist with management shift duties when the Cellar Door Manager is off-site - this may include open/close procedures, staff management, POS Sales Reporting, securing the premise post-shift, & likewise duties that will be communicated to you prior for ongoing duties
- Support the Management team in their continuous efforts to grow The Cellar by Gilbert - further duties may be added to your position
The Candidate:
- A passion for wine!
- Experience in a Supervisor Role - preferred
- RSA Certified
- WSET 1 or 2 - ideal
- Excellent communication, delegation and time management skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and take direction
- Flexible to work events and public holidays - as required
- Expected to assist with weekend work - alternating roster available
- Must be able to assist with weekend shifts - work life balance hours
(min 4-days to start)
- Live in the Mid-West Region or is in a position to commute to or relocate to Mudgee, NSW
- Have the right to work in Australia
