Cellar Door Supervisor (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

In this role, you will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge of wines, wine regions and the winemaking processes. This knowledge will help you lead informative wine tastings for cellar door guests, whilst build on your passion of wine. 

Reporting to: Cellar Door Retail Sales Manager

Responsibilities:

• Welcome all guests to the cellar door; offer an engaged and exemplary customer service at all times 
• Conduct tailor made wine tastings, whilst demonstrating extensive knowledge of The Gilbert Family Wine Company and the relevant wine regions
• Ardently serve food, alcoholic beverages (RSA), teas and coffees
• Provide a high-quality coffee service and steadily increase your knowledge of the coffee making process
• Assist with basic food preparation – knowledge of local produce
• Maintain effective communication with the kitchen in regard to daily specials and menu changes to the team
• Seek opportunities and make recommendations to increase the overall experience for cellar door guests
• Assist in achieving monthly sales targets for the cellar door
• Seek out opportunities to up sell
• Accurately process customer transactions on the POS
• Promote the Collector Wine Club and actively contribute to the increased number of members
• Participate in continuous product and industry related education
• Provide general support to management and colleagues and participate in the continuous improvement of processes within the cellar door
• Complete light administration work when required – as directed
• Supervise and maintain the cellar door team, manage break times and send staff home if not required
• Ensure cellar door staff knowledge and work ethic is maintained at a high standard
• Maintain an effective stock control system and stock replenishment
• Ensure that hygiene standards are maintained to the highest level at all times in all areas and undertake in cleaning duties
• Ensure the cleaning schedule, watering schedule and any other weekly tasks are completed in a timely manner 
• Support the Management team in their continuous efforts to make our Cellar Door the place to be!
• Act as a positive role model at all times for other staff members

The Candidate:

• A passion for wine!
• Experience in a Supervisor Role - preferred
• RSA Certified - or will be prior to start date
• WSET 1 or 2 - ideal
• Excellent communication, delegation and time management skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and take direction
• Flexible to work events, weekends and public holidays
• Live in the Mid-West Region or is in a position to commute to or relocate to Mudgee, NSW
• Have the right to work in Australia
