Blue Pyrenees Estate is seeking vintage cellar hands for the 2024 harvest.
The winery is situated in Victoria’s Pyrenees winegrowing region about an hour west of Ballarat. Our focus is on high quality, cool climate estate grown fruit. We grow, vinify and bottle onsite and concentrate on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for Sparkling, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. Vintage normally runs from late January until end of April with extended work post vintage available for the right candidates. We run 12 hour shifts / 6 days a week at the peak of vintage. Accommodation is provided for vintage staff close to the winery. Cellar hands will be exposed to all aspects of the winemaking process across both the cellar and lab. You must be enthusiastic, self-motivated and possess a can-do attitude. Previous experience is preferred but not essential and all necessary training (confined space and forklift) will be undertaken on site before vintage begins.
Specific roles & responsibilities including, but not limited to:
• Crusher and press operation
• Juice and wine transfers and rackings
• Safe and efficient forklift operations
• Cellar cleaning and upkeep
• Filtration of wine and juice
• Tank additions
• Sample collection
• Barrel filling, emptying and washing
• Barrel additions, topping and stirring
• Tank cleaning and sterilisation
• Winery Sanitation
