About the business
G. Patritti & Co Pty Ltd are a proud third generation family business, established by Giovanni Patritti in 1926. We are the last remaining fully operational family owned winery in suburban Adelaide, located at Dover Gardens. We are custodians of the historic Marion Urban Vineyards and also own and operate two premium McLaren Vale vineyards in Blewitt Springs and Tatachilla, both planted by the family in early 1960's.
About the role
This important role is a "hands-on" Vineyard Management role responsible for all Vineyard operations across our five Adelaide and McLaren Vale sites, covering a total planted area of 30ha.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervision of vineyard staff and contractors
- Managing all aspects of the weekly vineyard work program
- Perform key vineyard operations including but not limited to: weed control, slashing, irrigation and trellis maintenance and repairs, fertiliser application, vine training etc
- All aspect of irrigation and fertigation management
- Maintain overall site visual presentation including mowing.
- Operating and maintaining machinery
- Monitoring and record keeping
Skills and experience
The ideal successful candidate will have:
- A strong desire to be a "hands-on" Vineyard Manager
- Vineyard or horticultural farm experience in a similar role
- A proven ability to work effectively without supervision
- Ability to lead and manage a small team of staff and contractors
- Ability to work flexible hours as required, both during vintage but also to suit weather conditions
- Experience operating and maintaining machinery and irrigation systems
- Current unrestricted driver's license, forklift license and Chemcert accreditation.
