The Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI) is the Australian grape and wine industry’s own research organisation. Applications are invited for the position of Technical Officer – Sensory Analyst to support research projects based at the AWRI, at the Waite Research Precinct in Adelaide. The Technical Officer will provide technical support for projects investigating the effects of winemaking variables on the sensory properties, and responses to sensory properties, of wine. The successful candidate will perform sensory tests, including preparation of tests, communication with sensory assessors and implementation of tests.
The ideal applicant should have a Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant discipline such as wine or food science, chemistry or psychology. Applicants with a Diploma qualification with an understanding of sensory evaluation methodology are also encouraged to apply. Experience in leading sensory panels and training in statistics are desirable.
