Turkey Flat is tucked away on the edge of Tanunda in the beautiful Barossa Valley, surrounded by historic vineyards dating back to 1847. The name Turkey Flat Vineyards derives from the Prussian settlers of Bethany and Langmeil in the early 1840s. They noticed that a large native bird frequented the rich flats located towards the lower end of the Tanunda Creek. They called the site ‘Turkey Flat’, as a result the significance of the bird and the original landscape it came from, symbolises the artwork on the Turkey Flat Vineyard’s wine labels. 

The Schulz family have been custodians of Turkey Flat since the 1860s, and the fourth generation of the Schulz family, headed by Christie Schulz, are the current caretaker / proprietors of this remarkable estate. The role of Chief Winemaker has now become available.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Vintage Co-ordination 
• Blending to the style of Turkey Flat ready for onsite bottling 
• Winery Management and coordination 
• Winery Maintenance 
• Oversee the Warehouse and Bottling line manager 
• Work closely with the Vineyard Manager to achieve quality fruit production 
• Wine focused public relations activities 

Due to the timing of Advertising this role last year, the appointment was put on hold to post vintage 2022.

We are now delighted to re-launch this exciting, busy, rewarding key position, ideal for a hands-on wine maker wishing to lead and work with a small team of passionate wine professionals. You will be the person who wants to show your creativity through expressive wines, by controlling all aspects of wine production. 

Completed tertiary qualification in Oenology with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role is strongly preferred. An attractive remuneration package will be offered commensurate with your qualifications and experience.
