Somm Wine Merchants is an Adelaide based Wine distribution company that sell South Australian Wine in the South Australian Market. We represent twenty brands from nine iconic wine regions.

We have an exciting opportunity for experienced wine industry professional to join our team in the role of Area Sales Manager.

The Role

Reporting to the owners, your responsibilities will be to manage and administer sales, drive growth and boost market share. You will be responsible for developing long-term relationships with potential new customers in the region, as well as maintaining existing relationships with current customers.

This is a highly autonomous role managing an established network of accounts plus identifying and bringing in new business.

Responsibilities include:

  • Meeting sales budgets and KPI’s for the On and Off Premise channels within the territory.
  • Managing current and building new relationships with accounts in both on and off premise channels.
  • Seeking out and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Recognising opportunities to solve customer problems to enable growth in both ours and their businesses.
  • Conducting product training and tasting events.
  • Managing a territory call plan.
  • Regional travel.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Show a passion to sell premium wine and demonstrate basic wine knowledge.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record in consistently setting, meeting and exceeding sales targets.
  • Demonstrate a positive “live for the hunt” attitude with a drive and desire to challenge themselves to learn and develop.
  • Be highly organised and motivated with an ability to work both autonomously and in a team.
  • Possess strong personal values including high integrity, reliability, honesty and excellence.
  • Demonstrate strong networking and communication skills in a variety of settings.
  • Demonstrate the ability to ask informative questions and really listen to the answers.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced sales environment.
  • Have a proven ability to influence and target key decision makers.
  • Strong organisational and computer skills.
  • An ability to analyse market intelligence, trends, pricing and competitor activities to identify new business development opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability of building growth through customer awareness/education and introduction of new products.

About You

Are you hungry, self-motivated individual with an attitude for hunting business?

Applicants must have a valid driver licence and own or have access to a car.

Ideally you would have completed a minimal level of wine education. Candidates with WSET Qualifications will be viewed favourably. 

Proven success in a sales role preferably dealing with wine sales.
