ADELAIDE HILLS VINE IMPROVEMENT OPERATIONS MANAGER

AHVII supplies Vitis vinifera cultivars in the form of lignified cuttings to the wine grape industry and has been doing so for 25 years through a system of Source Blocks established on growers’ vineyards. Annually AHVII supplies over 500,000 cuttings to its customers who are mainly nurseries both interstate and local.

 AHVII is a not-for-profit incorporated body run by a committee of Adelaide Hills Wine Region growers and an Operations Manager. A casual team of around 20 cutters and support crew (Cutting Team Supervisor and Shed Supervisor) are engaged from end of May to end of July to cut and dispatch the cuttings.

The AHVII Committee requires a Part Time Casual Operations Manager to oversee its operations in the Adelaide Hills.

The attributes of the successful candidate would be:

·         Strong background in Viticulture or Horticulture.

·         Very good communication and people skills with contractors, growers and customers.

·         Ability to supervise a large cutting crew in winter.

·         Good computer based record keeping skills with attention to detail.

·         Problem solving with customers and other AHVII casual staff.

·         Apply discretion with customer information.

·         Have good logistics and organisational abilities.

·         Ability to manage intensive and busy periods as well as periods of low activity.

·         Involvement would be about 300 to 400 hours per year, predominantly over the winter period.
