Are you a passionate and experienced sommelier with a deep knowledge of wines and a commitment to delivering exceptional service? We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Sommelier to join our team and be part of the region’s newest luxury hotel providing our guests with an unparalleled wine experience.
The Role
As the Senior Sommelier, you will play a pivotal role in curating an outstanding wine program. You will lead, develop, and mentor food and beverage team members in delivery service excellence relating to the wine program and offer expert guidance to guests by recommending wines that complement food choices and meet their preferences. Additionally, you will maintain currency of industry trends, new wine and beverage releases and remain abreast of emerging wine regions for upselling and driving revenue.
About You
- Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) or similar Sommelier qualifications (or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role, with experience in working in five-star hotels/fine dining desirable.
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol Statement of Attainment
- Demonstrated experience in Beverage/Cocktail and A-la-carte restaurant service
- Knowledge of the Australian and International wine market
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with guests, staff, and vendors.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and composure under pressure.
- Attention to detail and a passion for providing exceptional customer service.
- Proficient in wine inventory control.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and wine-related software.
