Lake’s Folly Vineyard is seeking a to employ a Winery Cellar Hand for our 2026 vintage period. Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
About Lake’s Folly
Located in Pokolbin, in the picturesque Hunter Valley wine region of New South Wales, Lakes Folly is a small single-site producer. As Australia’s first boutique winery (established 1963), Lake’s Folly has earned an enviable reputation for its premium wines.
Position Details & Applicant Criteria
- The position is located in Pokolbin, in the Hunter Valley wine region.
- Start Date will be around 19 January 2026, for approximately 6-8 weeks.
- Hours: typically, 8 hours per day (early morning starts), 5 days per week (Mondays to Fridays).
- Remuneration is per Award hourly rates.
- Reporting to the Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker.
- The role will involve manual work during our summer harvest and vintage period.
- Your own transport and accommodation arrangements are required.
- Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents or hold a valid work visa.
- Lake’s Folly is not in an eligible postcode location for Working Holiday Visa applicants (88 days).
Position - Key Responsibilities and Duties Include (but are not limited to):
- Assist with grape intake and handling (manual processing).
- Assist with all elements of winemaking processes inside the winery, including manual delivery of fruit to crusher, hand-plunging vats, hand-bucketing vats, shovelling grape skins, cleaning of tanks, cleaning of vats, grape press, and all winery processing equipment.
- Some outdoors work may be required, on occasion (assisting with hand-picking of grapes).
Requirements
Skills and Experience
- Due to the physical nature of the work, applicants should possess a suitable level of physical fitness and strength to be able to carry out tasks with efficiency and in a timely fashion.
- Punctuality and reliability – early morning starts on harvest days will be a requirement.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to contributing to a small teamwork environment.
- A current forklift driver’s licence would be considered an advantage, but not essential.
