Senior Winemaker

Description

Located at Currency Creek in South Australia, SA Wine Co is seeking an enthusiastic and competent senior winemaker to join our experienced team. Overseeing an annual crush of up to 6,000t the successful applicant will be involved in leading all aspects of the winemaking process, and will have an excellent knowledge of all winemaking methods.

Your Responsibilities

• Responsible for the process management of grapes, juices and wines including chemical and ingredient additions, racks, transfers, clarification, blends, and shipping
• Liaise with management and customers to establish long term relationships by identifying requirements and implementing solutions as required
• Responsible for tasting wines to conduct evaluation and recommendation of treatments to improve wine quality, including blending, bulk wine purchases and sales
• Optimize processes to improve quality, cost and operational efficiency
• Responsible for upholding quality control procedures and meeting customer specifications
• Ensuring all laboratory analysis is current and relevant to allow for appropriate decision making
• Responsibility for training and mentoring junior team members
• Maintain a high standard of WHS within the cellar
• Candidates must provide proof of permanent residency in Australia

What Will Set You Apart

• A degree in oenology or equivalent
• Extensive knowledge of winemaking equipment, processes and procedures
• Experience in a similar commercial winery
• Knowledge and experience of Microsoft and Vintrace
• Exposure to wine industry networks
• Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate a team
• Strong communication skills both written and oral
• Proven organisational skills and an ability to prioritise workload
