Position Overview:

Sobels Winery is a premium Australian winery renowned for excellence in winemaking, located in Hunter Valley NSW 2320.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Cellar Door Manager to lead our tasting room and deliver exceptional guest experiences. You will oversee the daily operations of the Cellar Door, ensuring outstanding customer service, driving sales, and sharing your passion for premium wines. This is a hands-on role combining team leadership, event coordination, and wine education. A valid RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) license is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day Cellar Door operations, including staff rosters, training, and performance.

  • Deliver engaging wine tastings and educate guests about our wines, region, and winemaking philosophy.

  • Achieve sales targets (retail, wine club, events) and maintain CRM/customer databases.

  • Coordinate events, private tastings, and collaborations with local tourism operators.

  • Maintain stock levels, merchandising, and compliance with liquor licensing/OH&S regulations.

We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a Cellar Door, hospitality, or retail management role (wine industry highly regarded).

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate a small team.

  • Excellent wine knowledge (WSET/Certificate in Wines preferred) and storytelling ability.

  • Commercial acumen – experience meeting KPIs, upselling, and managing budgets.

  • Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and peak periods.
