Assistant Winemaker

Job Description

Cape Jaffa Wines is a family owned winery based in Mount Benson, South Australia. Cape Jaffa produces wine from their estate grown fruit, a few key growers, as well as contract processing for external clients.

• This will be a hands on role working closely with the winemaker to manage all winemaking processes from harvest to bottle. The role will include but limited to:
• Undertake or supervise cellar work as required
• Assisting in driving style and finalising blends (creative direction of wine)
• Assist in all of the laboratory analysis during the winemaking process
• Assist in ensuring all quality controls are in place for wines being prepared for bottling
• Representing Cape Jaffa Wines at tastings & events

The successful candidate will be flexible, hands on and enthusiastic to work in all areas of the winery.

• Job Requirements
• Candidates require the following:

• A degree or nearly completed degree in Oenology/viticulture

• Experience working in a small to medium winery in both cellar and laboratory

• Strong technical and sensory experience

• Strong work ethic and high level of self-motivation

• A valid car and forklift licence

• Physically capable of undertaking cellar duties

• Must have an Australian citizenship/residency or valid working visa
