Food and Beverage Attendant (Wine Jobs: Wine Retail & Sommelier)

Located at Newcastle Airport, just 25km from Newcastle and 30km from the picturesque Port Stephens, Mercure Newcastle Airport is the perfect location for the discerning business travellers, families or guests wishing to rest between flights or see the beautiful Port Stephens area.

The Food and Beverage Attendant is an integral part of the Mercure Newcastle Airport Food and Beverage team. Providing a professional service in our restaurant, Mach One. Shifts may vary between weekday and weekend evenings.

You will be energetic, driven with a positive attitude that will be contagious.

Key responsibilities for this role include: 

  • Welcoming guests 
  • Seating guests and providing advice on menu selections;
  • Managing both small and large dining groups;
  • Providing quality table service to meet guest expectations and maximise revenue;
  • Arranging table settings and maintaining a clean, tidy & hygienic dining area;
  • Strict adherence and enforcement of current health and food safety regulations;
  • Delivering room service meals and drinks to accommodation guests;
  • Mixing & serving menu drinks including cocktails and barista coffee;

The successful candidate will possess the following qualities:

  • Exceptional Customer Service & Communication Skills
  • A current and up-to-date RSA qualification
  • Highly professional manner & grooming
  • Flexible and adaptable to a fast paced & dynamic hotel industry
  • A team player with a positive & enthusiastic attitude
  • Previous experience in a similar role for 12 months or more is preferred
  • Experience in a la carte dining preferred
  • Cocktail, wine and bar knowledge is highly desirable however not essential.
  • Driver's license preferred
