Account Manager (Wine Jobs: Sales & Marketing)

Key duties include:
  • Achieve agreed sales, distribution, promotional, call plan and cycle objectives
  • Prepare monthly customer call plan by identifying and prioritising all accounts; based on customer segmentation, ranking and call frequency.
  • Adhere to the Sales Call Procedures and Call Standards with all customers and calls;
  • Build effective relationships with customers;
  • Develop, monitor and review  business plans for customers utilising financial analytical tools
  • Identify and report on competitor and trade activity;
  • Target customer base with promotions ensuring sales targets are achieved;
  • Drive sales through distribution increases of the Pernod Ricard portfolio of products;
  • Respond promptly to customer enquiries and effectively and diplomatically handle customer complaints;
  • Monitor and assess competitor activity including changes in promotions;
  • Pre-sell upcoming promotions to customer base and follow up to secure sales;
  • Conduct customer education activities i.e. hosting brand ambassador trade visits , product tastings and staff training;
  • Minimise and report out of stocks resolving any delivery issues;
  • Monitor customer compliance e.g. .retail group promotional activity, wine listing, POS, pricing, ranging, back bar, pouring agreements, promotional display and correct use of incentives;
  • Build and maintain creative merchandising displays in prominent locations;
  • Ensure PRA products are well faced, positioned and priced;
  • Place POS material extensively, prominently and creatively throughout outlets;
  • Maintain and effectively use customer data management systems;
  • Set and achieve agreed sales and cycle objectives;
  • Ensure full compliance to all Company Quality, Safety and Environmental standards
The successful candidate will have:
  • Minimum of two years FMCG account management experience, with a strong understanding of retail investment in the market place, brand equity building, execution plans and retail advertising
  • Strong merchandising experience
  • Demonstrable experience in business development
  • Knowledge of the corporate retail trade business
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain professional relationships and contact with customers
  • The ability to set achievable goals and evaluate performance against measurable outcomes.
  • Strong financial skills and an understanding of the business planning process
  • Strong understanding of the Selling techniques, including negotiation skills.
  • PowerPoint, Word and Excel skills are essential
  • Tertiary qualifications in business or related discipline would be advantageous however not essential
  • A sound knowledge of wine, champagne and spirit categories supported by formal training or education is desirable
  • Thorough understanding of the retail independent liquor trade with working knowledge of the on premise liquor trade
