Duxton Vineyards are a privately-owned company, which owns a portfolio of vineyards, including two of the largest vineyards in Australia. The vineyard portfolio totals approximately 2400 hectares of vines. Not only does this company supply fruit to most of the large wine companies it also produces wine to be sold locally and to international markets.
An exciting opportunity currently exists for a Nursery Supervisor at our Duxton Vineyard Nursery situated in Euston. Reporting to the Nursery Manager, the Nursery Supervisor role involves working in our Production Division. The applicants should be prepared to work in various weather conditions. Be physically fit as the role will require some heavy lifting, and repetitive work.
To be successful in the role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Implementing and coordinating all day-to-day activities in relation to the nursery
- A can-do attitude and a history of commitment and reliability
- Be flexible in hours as weekend work and rostering are required
- Repairs and Maintenance
- Manage all aspects of plant health
- Irrigation and fertigation associated with the nursery
- Ensuring quality control programs and record keeping are adhered to
- Potting with an automated machine
- Plant identification skills
- High regard for safety standards and following WHS procedures
- Ability to communicate & get along with others in a team
The ideal candidate will possess the following credentials:
- Be physically fit and enjoy a physically demanding role
- Be passionate about the horticulture industry with a great work ethic
- Willing to learn and able to take instruction
- Sound knowledge and understanding of propagation and nursery supervision
- Knowledge of and experience in working with Work Health and Safety standards and a commitment to maintain and improving practices.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- High level planning and organizational skills
Driver's licence and reliable transport are a must.
