Our winery has pioneered many of the region’s renowned wine styles and today is a benchmark for the quality of the region’s wines. We aim to produce wines that capture a unique sense of place in every bottle. These characteristics are defined by our pristine coastal location, unique soils and 40 years of viticultural history.
We’re looking for a skilled Cellar Hand to join the winery team at Cape Mentelle. This opportunity will allow you to contribute to a premium, modern and friendly work environment and develop your skills further with good training and task diversity. Our Cellar Hands are responsible for maintaining the quality of wine throughout processing, fermentation and ageing, and then the delivery of finished product to Production.
The key tasks of this position are:
- Following SOPs to perform all cellar duties in accordance with plans delivered by the Winemakers and OHS standards
- Participate in all barrel operations and oak maintenance.
- Participate in the harvest season as a team leader, overseeing crush pad work, red and white fermentations.
- Use your attention to detail to monitor the quality of the wine
- Prepare still wines in readiness for bottling
- Ensure that work areas are maintained in an appropriate state of cleanliness, organization and hygiene. Lead cleaning and sanitation efforts.
In order to be successful in this position you will:
- Have previous winery experience (minimum 3 vintages)
- Have a comprehensive understanding of the winemaking flow and principles
- Have developed written and verbal skills
- Be a Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Understanding of Health & Safety and hygiene codes of conduct
- Qualification in Wine Operations, Oenology or equivalent is advantageous
