Full time hours. Must be available to work on nights and weekends.

$65,000 to $75,000 per year plus superannuation

We are on the verge of some very exciting growth at Mount Macedon Winery (MMW) and we are looking for a passionate and qualified Chef to join our existing team in a full-time capacity.

First and foremost, we are looking for someone with the right attitude who will bring something special to our team culture and someone who is excited to be part of the growth of MMW. Our team, and the role, needs someone who thrives under pressure and maintains a calm presence to assist with leading the team by example. We want someone who is as passionate about food

(and its presentation) as we are and who can communicate well with the team, including organising efficient work schedules. It goes without saying that as a leader we are looking for exceptional time management skills which will flow into the work with the wider team.

Our property is located on Mount Macedon in the heart of the Macedon Ranges, just 75km north of Melbourne. There are two main venue spaces open for dining; The restaurant (UUMM) which is open for lunch from Thursday to Sunday and dinner service on Friday and Saturday.

As well as the Cellar Door which is currently open for lunch Saturday and Sunday with the scope of additional operating days. We have a large focus on cooking food in wood fired ovens and it is important to us to focus on regional produce. Having seasonal menus created to pair with our Estate grown and local wine list is also of great importance.

In addition to the weekly trade, we specialise in hosting many weddings, events and large group functions throughout the year. Generally no two weeks are the same which will give you a diverse work environment. 

Example of duties and key responsibilities:

- Assisting chefs in daily running of the kitchen;

- Adapting to guest dietary requirements wherever possible; 

- Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation; 

- Assisting chefs in managing the work schedules and mentoring the kitchen team; 

- Leading by example and sharing your knowledge of techniques, cooking and preparing procedures with the kitchen team; and

- Assisting in maintaining hygiene & OH&S regulations of the kitchen.
